Week 1 - Day 2

Today was a little harder than yesterday. Early this morning, 3AM to be exact, my dogs woke me up barking at nothing. So I got up and turned on all the lights and of course there was nothing there. I then proceeded to let them out and then came in an noticed that our windows upstairs were open and the shade was hitting against the wall.. BINGO.. that was what prompted Chloe to bark. I fixed the shades and then went to lay back down in bed and my 4AM alarm went off to wake me up to go to the gym. Needless to say I reset my alarm for 6AM after seeing it was supposed to be 80 degrees out today and fell back asleep. I then went through my whole day preparing myself for my 3 mile run, which I accomplished as soon as I got home. It wasn't my best time, but I finished it in 29:47. My goal was under 30 minutes, so I accomplished that.

How can you not give into these two???

I did really good eating today and am actually snacking on some air-popped popcorn as I type this. For those of you who don't know, this is an awesome low calorie snack. When you only have 1200 calories per day you have to find those snacks where you get a lot of food for little calories. The air-popped popcorn with spray butter (another staple for low calorie diets) is only 186 calories for 6 cups of popcorn. That is equivalent to a large movie theater popcorn, but for less calories due to the spray butter instead of oil.

I also have signed up for the 25 mile Care Net Family Resource Center Bike Ride. For those of you who are close to Kenosha, this is a good opportunity to get out and do a relaxed bike ride to kick off the summer. If you need someone to ride with just let me know. My husband and I will both be doing this and we are more than willing to ride with others.. the more the better.

Here is the link to sign up.

For those of you who are interested in the other bike rides I am participating in so far this summer. Here are the names and the links to sign up and view more information.
Here are the runs I have planned so far:
I am always up to try new things. If there are any runs or rides that you plan to participate in, please keep me posted. If I am available I will join you.

Week 1 - Day 1

Well today was a success. This morning I woke up at 4AM, weighed myself, and made it to the gym by 5AM to do my hour long spin class and burned 650 calories. It felt really good afterwards, but during the class I felt like I was going to die. I also must have done something to my left knee. I feel like an old woman, when I sit for a while and then get up to walk behind my left knee is sore.

I have been logging my food using myfitnesspal.com, which works very well if you stick to it. My calorie goal is set to 1200 calories per day and then the calories you burn when you work out gets added to the 1200 calories. This means after my workout this morning I had 1850 calories to use. I used them very wisely and tried to get all of my nutrition along with it. Currently I have about 1,000 calories remaining for dinner and my wonderful husband is making chicken using the four cheese fresh take packet and some wheat macaroni noodles with light ragu pasta sauce. I also have some weight watcher ice cream for dessert :)

If you are also using myfitnesspal.com to track your calories feel free to add me. My account name is "caywooda".

Care Net Family Resource Center Bike Ride in Kenosha

I have also been invited to do a ride in Kenosha at Parkside. This is a fundraising event for Care Net Family Resource Center and only costs $25 to participate in a 10, 25, or 50 mile loop. The ride begins at 7:30AM and refreshments are included. TJ and I will be doing the 25 mile loop, if anyone would like to join us please let me know!

If anyone else is interested here is the link to the ride.

Week 1 - 1/2 Marathon/Centry Ride training program created

Well.. tomorrow starts the first week of my 1/2 marathon training plan. I just completed my 21 week training program and added in the cycling rides and 5Ks that I have signed up for thus far. My goal is to stick to this plan and finish the 1/2 marathon in under 2 hours. My last years time was 2 hours 15 minutes, so I have some work to do in order to get below 2 hours. Especially since I haven't been running for a while due to a knee injury I had last year.

I also want to complete a century bicycle ride in Door County that I have signed up for. This will be a first for me. I am extremely excited, but nervous because this is pushing my limits. If I stick to my plan I should be able to accomplish both of my goals for this year.

Another goal of mine is to lose 15 pounds in the process of this training plan. I am not confident enough to share my weight over the Internet, but I will be keeping track of the amount lost throughout this process and post the results. I will also be taking pictures of my progress and posting them here to keep motivating myself and others like myself who have a hard time getting motivated.

These are the two events I will be completing:

1. Door County Century Ride ( http://www.doorcountycentury.com/)
2. Brewers Mini Marathon (http://www.race-brewers.com/)

Here is my May training schedule

I will continue to post the June, July, August, and September plans as time progresses.

Please feel free to join me in this training program so we can keep each other motivated throughout this process.
